‘App Pins’ on Pinterest for iOS users

Here’s some great news for Apple App users. The Cupertino-based electronic company is teaming up with Pinterest to help iOS users download their apps directly on Pinterest without having to go to Apple App Store.

The new pin will appear as a small badge with Apple’s logo. It would be just like any other regular pin, but here in this case, the users will be able to download their favorite apps. Simply tap the button to open the App store sheet where the entry has been pinned.

The App Pins are a new content unit within Pinterest, where users can arrange items as per their interest on board. The company introduced rich pins in 2013 in numerous categories. Take for example the product pin, which includes information about pricing and availability of the item.

So if you are using iPhone or iPad and have come across an app pin, you can download it immediately within the Pinterest. The idea for the app pin integration is to make downloads on an iOS device more seamless.

“With more than 75 percent of usage to Pinterest coming from mobile devices, we want to make it easier to discover apps for all types of interests,” said Malorie Lucich, a Pinterest spokesperson in an email interview to readwrite.com

Going forward, whether such service will be available on Android and other non iOS devices is still not clear.
