In fact, the users can access the lock from their mobile apps, check status and even buzz-in guests, when they are not home.

August Connect is basically a $50 WiFi bridge for the smart lock. The device connects with the Bluetooth first and then transmits signal to the cloud through your home’s WiFi network. In fact, it plugs in directly into a Wifi outlet near by so as to give you a clear status about your lock .


By providing continued Internet connection to the device, August Connect will be unlocking a host of new features useful to the users.


As part of the launch, August is also introducing its API, which will enable its partners like Logitech Harmony, SmartThings and Nest to integrate with the SmartLock and Connect. The Nest integration will be something to look up to. For instance, the thermostat can turn-on the energy-saver mode when you exit, and fire back up the AC or heat when you enter.
