Surprise, surprise. Apple is next to Cannon in Camera Ranking on Flickr. And, ironically, Apple doesn’t even make cameras. According to Flickr – an online photo sharing service used by more than 100 million users – Apple ranks second with 9.6%. Canon with 13.4% and Nikon with 9.3% take the first and third place. While Samsung and Sony are close runners with 5.6% and 4.2% respectively
Of all these companies, only Apple doesn’t make cameras. Rather, the company makes iPhones – the best camera phones available in the market. And with each passing year, the company puts in best efforts to improve the cameras of its smartphones. Little wonder, the Cupertino-based company is proving its metal even in the camera domain.
According to Flickr data, Apple devices (about seven) topped the list of the top 10 mobile camera companies in 2014. Samsung and HTC complete were also part of top 10 team, with two and one device, respectively.
With increase in use of smartphones for photography purposes, the traditional camera market has taken a beating. In fact, they have been reduced to a fraction of its former size. And flickrs rankings also vouch the fact that these devices are no more used for just clicking casual photographs.
