Xiaomi’s Mi4 to hit Indian shores in January

Gadget geeks rejoice! Come January 28 and Xiaomi – the world’s 3rd largest smartphone distributor -will launch its smartphone Mi 4 in India. (The Mi 4 was launched in July last year; however, for reasons only known to the company, the phone never made it to the Indian shores in 2014.)

The news was confirmed by Hugo Barra, Head of International operations for Xiaomi, while speaking to one of the leading Indian business dailies.

The phone will be exclusively available on Flipkart via flash sale model. And though the official prices are not out, it’s expected to be priced between Rs 17,000- Rs 20,000.

Just recently, at an event held in Beijing on15th January 2015, Xiaomi launched its flagship smartphones of 2015, the Mi Note and Mi Note Pro.

The 5-inch phone has 441 ppi resolution and will have either 16GB or 64GB internal storage space. For protection it uses Corning Gorilla Glass 3 and is powered by a 2.5 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 801 processor and has 3GB RAM. The handset has a 13MP rear camera with LED Flash, Sony IMX214 BSI sensor and 4K video recording. Plus, it also has a mind-blowing 8MP front-facing camera with Sony Exmor R sensor. The Mi4 comes with Android 4.4.3 KitKat pre-installed, with a layer of the MIUI OS skin. In terms of connectivity, the phone supports 4G LTE boradband along with 3G, WiFi Direct, Bluetooth and GPS. It has a 3080 mAh battery, which will keep it running for longer hours.

As far as cons go, they are few and far between. Xiaomi has covered almost all areas, so there’s nothing much to say. In most cases, Mi4 have exceeded the required benchmarks.
