Holiday seasons are hectic for Amazon. With orders pouring in, it simply becomes impossible for the online giant to cope with the deluge. However, things will be a lot different this holiday season. How? The shopping giant has revealed that its warehouses in the U.S. will make heavy use of automatons to ship orders this time. In other words, Amazon has decided to rope in Kiva robots. These robots are designed to shuttle smaller goods around the warehouses, while the Robo-Stow will be moving larger volumes.
Plus, there will be new vision-based system that would help workers unload stock in a matter of minutes, rather than hours. This doesn’t mean that humans will be rendered useless. Conversely, the robots will try and make the life easier of its 80,000 manual workforce by helping them deal with the crushing holiday demand.
