Facebook Opens Up its Messenger App Features for Third-Party Apps

Jumping beyond the walls of its ubiquitous social network, Facebook welcomed app developers for its Messenger Features.

On 25th March 2015, Facebook officially announced its Messenger platform for outside app developers. It means third-party app developers are now able to add messenger features to their apps.

Facebook’s Messenger platform will insert messenger services directly into the ecosystem of Android and iOS apps. This is a great opportunity for outside developers to connect with 600+ million Facebook users — And also a superb idea of Facebook to inspire developers for creating their apps with its new Messenger Platform.

By the end of April, Facebook will add more abilities to this platform. The platform will help users to keep track of their interactions with businesses by displaying them store receipts and shipping information.

This is the second major update of the week by Facebook. First was the announcement of all-new payments system enabling users to send and receive money using standalone messaging system.

Facebook has planned to integrate more apps within its own app store. It has already started working with advertisers, news organizations and other companies with an aim to offer more features that can build a strong and wider user base.

Looking at its constant updates, it seems that Facebook is trying to be more competitive with similar messaging platforms like WeChat and Line.
