After the infamous law suit of sexual harassment and workplace discrimination, Whitney Wolfe, Tinder’s former VP of marketing is back in the news. This time she is finding another way of getting back at Tinder – to compete with it.
Whitney has teamed up with Chris Gulczynski and Sarah Mick (co founders of Yay Next), to launch a direct competitor to Tinder. They are calling the App – Bumble.
The Facebook page claims to ‘change the rules of the game’. It plans to do so by ‘promoting a safe and respectful community’ with no ‘unwanted messages’ and no ‘dead end matches’ like the ‘other more shallow apps’.
The App’s website reveals more into the app with a more detailed profile build up system. The details required would include job position, company, college, and even the year you graduated.
The company is officially being called Moxco Limited and claims to be operating out of London. The funding they’ve received has not been revealed but the industry speculates it to be in millions.
With the speculated launch on December 1st, it is yet to be seen whether or not Bumble is able to make a dent in Tinder’s universe but one advantage that ex-employees have is the clear know how of the fallacies and the tentative solution.
Its only one thing we are sure of at this moment. That is – with tech geeks fighting for the mind share of a similar group, innovations are bound to happen and the battle would be worth watching for.
